Custom turbo kit (kinda)

so, i was considering buying a t3 turbo off of ebay, cheap turbo piping and intercooler off ebay, and then going to buy a MAF and Turbo Headers and Injectors.

Is this is close to being a good idea? or am i just better off spending the extra cash and buying a TMA kit?(if I was looking for 350-400hp at the crank.)

not a good idea. a t3 is too small for you engine and you will blow it. get at least a t4 if you are planning on doing that

well you need a wastegate a BOV and the rest of the components to build the turbo kit... i cant remember where i saw it but there is a how to build your own turbo kit for around a grand depending on how cheap you can get parts. google it and it tell you what all you need. and dont forget the tune!

i want to keep the cost low. but if i only spend about a grand on a single turbo, i might go twin. Gotta figure out my cost though.

depends on the trim for what size t3. Most t3 turbos are not 82mm trim. Thats a large trim for that turbo. Thats why it would work better than grabbing a junkyard turbo.

t3's can work but your better off with a t4 flange
ebay is the last place to buy a turbo

ebay turbo kits are useless
you still need the most important parts

turbo headers or manifolds which ever you prefer to call it
cross over
turbo mount
then the exhaust piping off the turbo..
waste gate and BOV mounts

false

i have seen it on a forum. the builder had all the parts used and the prices he got them for and the total for the project. he even said that you could cut some of the cost and get cheaper versions of stuff he got and have a home made turbo kit for less

he is only running 4 psi cause anymore would need a tune and possible engine upgrades. the turbo wasnt holding him back, his wallet was.

get me specs on the material made for the headers. Was the builder building them for himself? or tryin to sell them to other people. If he knows how to weld good, then HE might be able to do it......but for 90% of the people on this forum who want a shop to fab them a custom turbo kit....its not happening for a grand.

Give me some reading material to back up this guys kit for cheap.
