I had an accel coild on my ZX2. It worked great for about 10 months, but burned otu after that. I was getting a missfire on 2 and 4 from the mid to high RPM range. I lost my faith with accel parts right then and there considering I was over 600 miles away from home, and the only place that carried a coil for it was the ford dealership at a whopping $250. That was nearly $200 more than what I paid for the accel coil. I ended up walking the car home because I had luckily saved the original one. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from the accel coil, all I am saying is Byer Beware!

0rwhp if everything previous was doing it's job correctly. That's why all the high HP guys have stock coil packs and standard ford racing wires and spark plugs needed for the application.

If they need to be replaced, that is fine. But doing it because you want gains. You'll be disappointed.

So is there any advantage to a performance coil pack?

It seems the OEM ford ones last longer and work perfectly in almost any application.

not really any. even Gary's old car that is with shiner now made 660rwhp and actually had issues with an aftermarket coil pack. He ended up switch back to stock one if i remember correctly.

If your getting the spark you need isn't that all that matters?
