My 2002 Mustang

I have a knocking noise when I start the car. Then when it warms up the knocking stops. It has enough oil. I was wondering if this is normal? If it is why does it make that noise? If it is not, what could be the problem?

is the knocking noise coming from the motor, the reason i say this is because before my smog pump stopped working it would make a similar knocking noise on startup while it was activated before bearing failure. however my pump was located in the passengerside fenderwell and could be mistaken as motor noise...

if it is coming from the motor, first thing i would do is scan the codes, then pull the spark plugs... could be spark knock? if plugs are good i would check the compression... then there are some other things to try.

How do you scan codes and it seems to be coming from the passenger side of the car. What tool can I use to get the back spark plugs, it is hard to get any tool in their ...I haven't go the chance to even change my spark plugs b/c of failiure to get in there and get them out.

you scan for codes with an OBDII compliant handheld scanner, usually local autoparts stores like autozone will do this for free, or you can use something like an SCT XCAL2. you will need a sparkplug socket and a socket wrench to get the rear plugs...
