im assuming your talking about ported heads?....
if you are then yes you will need to get a tune. i bet you could run it without one but you would most likely hurt your engine...

i would get a xcal and a wideband from trick tunners. Talk to joe or go to Trick Tuners, SCT Flash Tuners, SCT Flash Custom Tuning, PLX Devices widebands and gauges, SCT Flash tuners, SCT Xcal2, sct livewire, sct xcalibrator and read there is tons of tuning info on there and joe is a A++ guy to work with!

But if you are going with stock heads and a home P&P Job you should be fine if you dont get to extensive with it. but you WILL always get more power and economy with a good tune!

you couldrun it without a tune but with the tune your going to see much better power

you can run it with out a tune no problem, just reset your computer and it will make small adjustments for the improvements... computers are smart, they can change small things like fuel and spark and shit to help it run to "Factory Specs" ... which is a complete and safe set up

to make the best of your improvements you should tune the car

you are right and this is true the computers are much smarter now days but there is a good chance that the comp. ratio will change and would throw the computer out of wack depending on the specs of the new heads and you could throw codes and lose mpg.

Get a tune and do it right the first time. if you need to save the money i would buy the heads, bolts(ARP) and gaskets (fel-pro or =) and let them sit untell you can get a tune, or bring it to the dyno. IMO

Think if you lose a few mpg how fast it could/would add up on a DD and you could have just bought a tunner and a tune and be in the same cost with more power idk about you but thats what makes my world go around!

you wouldnt need a tune
if you dont have ported intakes then ported heads would be wasteful though

do you even know wut youre talking about? porting your heads doesnt change the compression ratio of the engine. you wont throw codes and you wont lose mpg, if anything youd gain from having a more efficient engine

where did the OP say he was only porting the heads??

he might get a lower ratio for boost or something.. might get a higher ratio for NA engine ...

changing the cc's on his heads wont raise the compression significantly, not enough that it would need a tune i would think.

i highly doubt those are ported and polished for $320
probably just factory heads...you'll see 0 gain in power
