Whining Noise
So what I thought was my tensioner pulley...isn't lol.
I've replaced the tensioner pulley, conditioned the belt and now I have no clue what to try. The only way I know to describe is is a whining noise, it only does it sometimes and it usually occurs when I'm at idle. It's pretty loud and very annoying. I kept wondering if it was my cai, but I took it off last night and started it up, and it was still doing it so I have no clue. Like i can't even distinguish where it's come from. I might try replacing my alternator next... |

There are so many things it could be. Are you at least sure that it's coming from the engine bay?

Thats why I don't know what to do try, there are soo many things it could be. It's definitely from the engine bay. It might be the power steering, but I've had no problems out of it, I don't know if that matters or not though. I think I'm going to try a new belt and an idler pulley. I'm trying to work from cheep, up lol. Is there anyway it would be just the alternator pulley and not the alternator, or crankshaft pulley?

Got to autozone and buy the stethoscope, you can put those things in your ears and then use the poker to touch the engine in any spot and you should hear the whine really loud vibrating through the end of it.

it could be your belt. it may have gotten stretched over time. also check your idler pully but that would be more of a squeak than a whine.
