ac affecting my clutch :-/ ???

so I turned on the ac cuz its hot as hell in tx.. anyway and my rpm's shot up and I noticed my clutch felt extremly stiff.. when I engage the clutch while driving sometimes the rpm's don't drop and sometimes they start to drop really slow.. same when I'm stopped at a light.. rpm's will just stay at 1500-2000 rpm's. any ideas?

your rpm's will stay higher because the engine has to turn the ac compressor where as before it was just the pulley before

they will go up a bit like 50-100, but that high at idle is something else, clean your IAT
