Single or Dual Exhaust

Hi all. I'm new here. Got a question about my 98 V6 Stang. I am going to upgrade the exhaust of my car. I talked to a mechanic and he gave me two options. 2.25" tubes from the cat exiting to one flowmaster 40 series or dual exhaust from the cat exiting into 2 flowmaster 40 series. Price is around $260 for the single and twice that for the dual. Would there be much of a difference in performance if I go with dual? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

not if it is coming out of the y-pipe... get yourself an H-pipe and do the duals... looks a lot better too IMO

for your 01 if u don't have restrictions get some mac longtubes, fit it with a shorty H-pipe without cats, and then fill the rest with your choice of catback, most prefer mac for sound, but magnaflows will give more hp output... GL

rpm-mustangs has the headers and midpipe to fit it
ninosport has catbacks

hope this help a lil

well i wouldnt just get dual exhaust cuz it looks better....

a single exit exhaust is about the shittiest flow you could get...actually it is..

get long tubes like slow sed, the H pipe and your DUAL exhaust.
you'll see about 20hp with that give or take a lil

also the exhaust your talking about is im guessing from a muffler shop...which they'll fabricate the exhaust to fit....

if i were you, i'd tell them you want long tubes...have them put in the long tubes and 2.5! not 2.25! 2.5 exhaust piping with an H pipe...im thinking about doing that because it'll be cheaper then buying everything i want

duh it not hard its exhaust, which is pretty much a "BOLT ON" but what are you talkin about im so lost T_T

and since we are on this subject ... i was thinking about custom fabricating my exhaust ... after the h pipes anyways... and right now im thinking about no mufflers and dumping out right infront of the rear wheels... but im not sure yet... sound quality isn't an issue in my book either

...k im not posting in this thread anymore....you want good performance with not good performing parts...
a single exit exhaust with long tubes, n H pipe and no mufflers...ive never heard of that...i wonder why...why would you get and H pipe then connect it to a y again...

good luck with that..
we've told you the best options

HP isnt cheap

you wana go the cheap way...then yo'll get cheap performance...you will have the sound of that set up, i dont even wana imagine it...i'd rather run open header

i am not sure what links you are trying to hotlink to and steal bandwith from, but it isn't working.

now to your post:
if you want power, mac long tubes, mac short off road H pipe, any gt mustang cat back of same year.

if you want something else, use your imagination, but most of us go for power, and have no experience with dual back to single, unmuffled, and dumped setups that still don't look stock due to the missing tail pipe.

It was the mic in my camera is crap. If you watch my newer one with the camera under my car it sounds better. Also you do not lose power from just havin the muffler hang there. The only down side to it is with the windows up you get a very loud drone right underneath you, and it rattles your dash, also the lack of backpressure, and the fact that it is illegal.
