help with the new mustang
all right guys need some input-i know alittle about the v8 engines but am alittle lost on the v6's. i bought my wife a 2004 mustang 3.9l and am wanting to pull some more hp-and im not to sure which way to go-the duals are my first mod then cai but after that im lost-looking for some guidence. i have thought about a supercharger but im not wanting to spend that much yet. any help would be great--also has anyone upgraded their mach 460 system to the 1000 if so what is needed--thanks

exhaust and intake might add 5rwhp together
gears and a posi would be a god first buy instead

welcome
![]() gears and posi in that ass end is a good start ![]() check around and you might find some more things youd like to add just by searching or browsing the v6 forums about the mach1000.. personally i would suggest a nice aftermarket system..

Duels and CAI are not bad first mods depending on what you want. They won't give you much power but they make the car look and sound sooooo much better. Also gear and posi won't give you any more HP. They give a HUGE boost in TQ. However, gears and posi are a good upgrade for the cost.

Also, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned a tuner. click the link in my sig to find out all you'll need to know about tuners.

i got the 2004 3.9 also. I wouldnt go with the mach 1000, im looking at a full flush box with 2 solo 10's with a kenwood 1000mono amp. but thats a bit powerful.
anyways im looking at doing a s/c later down the road, but i dunno what i should do now though. i did dual exhaust and thats it. So ill be looking for advice as well. Thinking about getting a posi from my boy but i dont have money for the gears so its pointless. Then i as going to get bullet rims with new parelli's but my other friend wont answer his phone

you can expect about 20rwhp per psi on a turbo ![]() if your an auto-4.10s is a better gear to look at if your 5speed look into 3.73s as far as gears go

..also, another thing to consider.. chris can probably give you the specific on this, but if your going FI (forced induction, i.e. s/c, t/c, nitrous) then you might want to look at upgrading that rear.. it's been awhile since i traded in my six so I don't remember a lot of the stuff i learned, but i think there's a point somewhere around 300 or 350 rwhp where most suggest you upgrade the rear like i said, i don't remember specific numbers, but I'd ask chris, I'm sure he can nail that down for you..

hey chris was just checkn out your web site-very nice by the way. quick question tho the stage 4 combo you have forsale-what kinda hp/tq could i exspect out of that setup-also my wifes car is a 3.9 but i was thinking the engine was the same as a 3.8 just displacement diff -i could be wrong tho. and with the porting of the intake and heads a bigger t/body and injectors would be needed correct

I don't know if it's been mentioned eyt, but keep in mind with the gears and posi. V-6 (for the new fellas) has a 7.5 inch rearend and gt has 8.8. If you can swap to an 8.8 inch from a wrecked GT or something, you get the sway bar quad shocks and all its all bolt up and the gear swap is easy since you already have the rearend dropped anyways

you can expect about 70rwhp or more on an n/a application on forced induction the gain is much greater, especially with the big valve heads
