Break Noise

Ok, I had been driving around last night for a while, lots of stop and go stuff, and I started hearing this creaking or squeaking noise (kinda hard to explain) whenever I would press and let off the break pedal. No noise while the breaks were engaged, just when I push or let off the pedal. I sounded like it was coming from the driver front but it may have just been me hearing it out my window.. any ideas what is going on?
