You could wait more than 8 min. for a responce. Most of us don't run our cars that low. Not healty for the engine.

Google it.

i never let my gage read below a quarter of a tank!...ive always heard letting the gas level get too low can lead to over heating of the fuel pump since the fuel cools the pump...i dont know if that 100% correct though lol....but believing it has kept me from running out of gas!!

You my friend, are lucky! haha. I usually don't fill up past quarter of a tank. Half if I'm lucky! haha.

It will only harm the engine if it gets TO low, meaning, the low fuel light. Mine has come on a few times, but it's always as i'm coasting into a gas station, haha.

when the needle is on the E, you still have about 2 gallons left. This is called the 'emergency resevoir.' The light comes on a different time depending on wha you are doing. going up or down hills might make the light come one before you are actually low on gas b/c the gas goes to one end of the tank. This is all explained in the owners' manual.

if you do run out of gas, you need to fill up the tank, and turn the key to 'on' then switch it to off several time before you actually turn your car on. This will get the fuel going through the fuel pump so that you dont cause any problems.

It doesnt harm the engine to have the light come one. Its just a warning that you need to fill up the gas tank. HAving it run out of gas IS bad though.

Chris, if you did run it down that low, could it potentially mess up the turbo aswell?

I know but why would you want to be on a mustang forum if you dont have a mustang? Thats like me going on a civic or a corvette forum. Its pointless. But i really wasnt referring the question to you.
