Help Me With My Gear Problem Please

Hey I have a 2000 V6 Mustang and bought the Ford Racing Posi traction off of RPM Outlet. I wanted to buy a new set of gears maybe the 3.73 gears, but I'm not sure if the gears have already changed when i got the posi traction. Does anyone know what set of gears come in the Ford Racing posi traction system? All it says is that it is the 7.5" diff which i know, but it also says 28 tooth spline which i have no idea what that means. And also, would i see much of a difference with the new set of gears? I appreciate the help

the posi trak(t-lok) does not come with gears, 28 tooth..its the #of teeth is has and 7.5 diff is your rear axle size

you'll need to buy the gears seperatly...i recommend ebay..and 3.73s if you plan on getting a s/c or turbo. the price on ebay will be about $130

im looking at your mods....i wish you would join this site sooner...that throttle body spacer is a waste of money really..

Well i don't plan on getting a s/c or turbo anytime soon so would the 4.10 gears be better? I know the throttle body spacer is a waste of money but i didn't pay for it my friend crashed his mustang so i got it for free. So the question is 3.73's or 4.10's with out getting a s/c or turbo

4.10s
even if you have manual
it'll burn a little more gas just so you know

im not getting a s/c or turbo and im gunna go for 3.73s anyway
4.10s in a manual is less the 2 seconds about

I have a manual so ur saying the 3.73's are the way to go thats why ur getting them? I want the most performance gain i can get. The only thing i put on my car so far that i see a big difference is the nitrous of course, i just want a part that makes my car feel more powerful without having to push a button for it and everyone says get gears.

im goin with 3.73s so i can save a little gas...for you if you want the max 4.10s...you could get 4.30s which would be insane, your first gear would be 1 sec...you'll be in 3rd gear in 6 seconds...and your best friend will be a fuel pump

4.10s will do nice...i'd be carefu with that 100shot, do you have stock interals? if so i woulda got a 75shot

yea i want to save gas too, so i will probably go for 3.73's. Thanks for the tips. I don't use the nitrous often i used it once in 4th gear when i took it to the track and ran high 12's i was pretty impressed i didn't expect anything under 13. I have upgraded my fuel pump bc i had to replace the stock one and also all new bigger injectors, all bc i was going to be buying the procharger.

I have 4.10s and a few guys with 5 speeds also have them. Dont fear the gear or take the advice from someone who does not personally have gears. Go with 4.10s. Good times on the nitrous, but you want to be careful and make sure you are trapping at a reasonable rpm. when on the motor alone, 4.10s are perfect, but not sure what rpm/gear you are trapping at now.

Once again thank you, but which set of gears is also better for just cruising since i do have to drive my car to work everyday and don't plan on racing it everyday

there is only a couple hundred rpm difference in 3.73 to 4.10, but the acceleration is substantial. read the gear article i wrote to learn why
