Which First?
Hey, I'm wanting to do some supporting mods so i can get a turbo later on down the road, and had some questions. Is it an absolute must to upgrade to a 8.8 rearend, or is it just better if i do?
And I would like to get gears, and dont know which i should be getting....3:73 or 4:10? I have standard trans. if it makes a difference I've also seen these t-lock's for v6's and just curious as to what they are for? Hmmm....Just realized my thread title makes no sense

8.8's are posi, 7.5 aren't, thats what the T-Locks are first.
What kind of hp are you looking to push? That will answer this thread the quickest. |

Mid 200's hp no need for a turbo, if you don't race or launch hard or with some sticky's at the track the stock 7.5 should handle mid 200 hp fine.

Well depends on alot of things, how much PSI you will be running and what you do to the engine mainly. Lemme pull up some threads for you to read to help you with ideas.

you dont NEED to run better gas then preminum at the gas pump with F/I
and if your only looking to gain like 60hp full bolt ons and a tune can probably get you there (or really close)

a bolt on motor and a 75 shot of the juice will get you to about the 250rwhp mark. and a lot cheaper then a turbo.
and with the money you saved you could do some nice suspension and brake work too, and really improve the cars overall performance. that depends on the tune. and you would only need that for when you would be spraying

What can you afford to do in the long term and what are you planning to do with this car?
Mid 200's HP unless you are in love with your V6 just trade in your car and get a GT, much cheaper and easier IMHO |

And for the gears, i just read that its not a good idea to use 4:10's in a manual and i should be using 3:73's...Is this correct? And i think my next car (it's gonna be a while) will be a GT, so i guess ill go all out on that one when the time comes

4.10's are doable on a manual, its just gonna be a really short 1st gear. |

Mid 200hp is pretty easy to get to. CAI, exhaust, tuner and custom tune, P&P heads and lower, and windstar upper intake. That should put you where you're looking to be. The 7.5 rear is good up to about 300HP, so no need to upgrade. Now if you do want a built motor and a turbo, then you're looking at a MUCH HIGHER HP rating. A fully built stroker with H/C/I by itself will put you around 250rwhp. You throw a turbo on there...well then things get interesting. It will all depend on your setup...what kind of boost you're running, etc. You could easily see 400+. If you go really high boost you might even be looking at 500-600hp. But yeah if all you want is 200 HP, there are much easier ways than FI.
