yea im waitin for monday to get here...i really want to get this goin...if i get home early enough tonight i might do some other stuff tonight...first thing to do is to get that windstar intake on which shouldnt be much of a problem. i just need to find a good piece of metal for the iac relocation which should be around the garage somewhere.

ok day one done...
i got the upper intake off and removed the egr except for the nut which is giving me hell...so i decided to go ahead and start stripping things down so i removed the front bumper and have the car up on jack stands. then since i couldnt get to the nut, i talked to chris and went to taking off the exhaust. i unbolted the cats from the headers but i couldnt get them to drop through the gap unless i could bring them back a ways. i then realized the only way that was happening is if i start from the back on the exhaust so i undid the hangers and loosened the clamps that held teh tip pipes and the mufflers but i have yet to be able to break them loose from each other. after messing with that for hours and not gettin anywhere, i went to working on the windstar intake and i built the bracket for the throttle and then i started bending the piece in the front but couldnt get it to the right spot where it cleared the intake...so im sittin on two problems right now that are holding me back...

do you have an aftermarket exhaust on already? removing an exhaust to me is breaking out the saws-all.

well you don't just go back to stock. need different pipes and a gasket. maybe even a tune if their is a large air flow difference.

if you already have the egr pipe off the header, all you have to do is unbolt two small bolts that connect to the upper intake, they are like 10/12 mm maybe 1/2 i cant remember. but its these two small bolts.

no that wasnt the problem, my problem was getting it off the header...so i am workin around it and i got all but two bolts/nuts off the passenger side header and on the driver side header i got em all off but am having issues actually getting it out bc of the dipstick that is in the way. i finally found the sawzall and i cut the exhaust behind teh mufflers to get the tail pipes off. anyone know what the bar type thing is that runs directly in front of the radiator that runs up to the top from the bottom...it looks like it is just a support but im not sure...

That gave me enough room to pull the manifold with EGR still attached out of the car (even without having to remove my strut tower brace). After that I layed the manifold down on the ground used tons of penetrating oil, and the only way I could get it off was by putting an adjustable wrench on the EGR attachment, standing with one foot on the manifold so it wouldn't move, and then hitting the wrench with a concrete block. As an afterthought I should have just taken it to my work and used the acetylene torch to heat it up.
