What's your opinion on the '06?

Hey guys, I'm looking at an '06 mustang pony package. I wanted to know everyone's honest opinion about them. Does anyone have any mechanical problems? I've been reading alot on Edmunds about some pretty bad problems with paint and rear end. I'll be selling my 5.4L F150, so is it hard (and somewhat cheap) to get the same HP out of the 4.0 mustang (300+)?

supercharger or a turbo will get you that.

I had one of these a couple of weeks ago for a rental car, and I was delightfully surprised. I would give the car high marks overall. The 4.0 motor seems to respond very well for a V6. The interior room has improved for the better, and the suspension seemed to be well suited for daily driving. Also, the seats were very comfortable when compared to the 04 model Mustang. There is definately plenty of room in the engine bay to accomodate any mods or add ons.
I only had a few negative points on the car. The fit and finish of the interior leaves alot to be desired. Numerous panels in the dash had varying gaps in them. I don't like where the emergency brake is now located. Last, and most importantly, the car feels like a boat compared to the earlier Mustang. The extra weight of the new model is extremely obvious when doing some spirited driving.

Are the turbo kits for the V6 twins? How much are the 8 and 12 PSI kits?

They are not twins. While you can TT your car, it will cost upwards of 10k to do so and do so properly.

As for a single turbo, I believe you can get a full set up for around 3 grand. And it isn't to much of an 8-12psi kit. You have the turbo and that is how much pressure you will be running through the system. More pounds per square inch, more power, but more stress on the moter. In order to run high numbers, you must have a built engine which can contain the power and a builit rear end that will not shatter under the pressure.

Up to a round 350hp for the rear end, not sure on the tranny. I think you'd be happy with around 300hp which would be about 7psi depends on other mods and things like that, but if your looking for more than that, you might want to go ahead with the 8.8 rear end.

SSStang and itschristorres can tell you more about the actually workings of turbos and such like that.

You could also go with the N/A route. Click the sig in my link (crt performance) to go to Chris Torres' website. He knows he stuff. Not sure if he's done anything on an 05+, but he does good work making fast N/A cars and turbod/super charged cars.

TMA Twin Race KIT

hmmm......i think yur math skills need some modding. Maybe 10k total to upgrade the rear axle, and the brakes.....but 10k for just the TT kit. no

+1 to shadow and the 4.0 are nice and if you are looking for 300 -350 the motor and tranny should be good but not sure about the rear

What is the stock rear anyway? And how much would an upgraded rear cost?

the stock rear end is a 7.5 A good upgrade for the 7.5 is a t-lok....but if you are putting big HP down, then you will want the 8.8 that is found in the GTs. A brand new 8.8 costs 400 bucks from Speed Concepts - Performance Parts to feed your appetite!

What gears and axles are in the 7.5 and the 8.8? And by T-lok...you mean like a limited slip or a Detriot locker? lol Sorry, I've only worked on oldschool cars and trucks, so I'm not really up to speed on the new stuff.

I think the interior is one of the biggest improvements over the old mustangs. I to use to own a 2004 mustang and the interior had the biggest gaps ever.
