just for the record down shifting does put wear on your clutch plate so if all you do is down sift to slow down.. thats just unnecessary wear and tear on it. is it cheaper to replace the clutch more often or the brakes... i do about 50/50 so they both last a bit longer. ALSO ive had more then 1 occasion of dumbass' not paying attention and damn near running into me at a stop light, so keeping it in gear allowed me to move out of the way

proper rev matching will cause negligible clutch wear

Ok so i have another question about my clutch. I have an adjustable one and i recently tightened it to make it stiffer. After doing so i can feel like a vibration through it, so my question is if you can tighten it too much to where it the clutch is constantly rubbing on or if i dont know what i am talking about about and that isnt possible?

you want to have free play in the pedal
you should be able to push with your pinky or finger about 1inch before it gets stiff
if you dont have that at all its possible its soo tight that the pedal is just slightly disengaged

AND FOR THE RECORD
holding the clutch in neutral will not wear the clutch disc

Didn't know that....What about the throw out bearing? will it be affected if you have it in neutral and hold the clutch?

alrighty, thanks. Ill check that tonight. I tightened it because if i am inching along because of stop and go sometimes the car shakes and so i thought tightening it would help, and it did so.

yes thats the only thing that your going to wear out or possibly hurt.

its only like $10 but it requires removal of the transmission and then re-installing which is really only like maybe 1-2hours work but a shop will charge you a lot more for it
