New here, but with a serious dilemma...
I've had a 2000 v6 for about 4 years now. It was only my second car (the first one got repo'ed... thanks, mom) and I've become a huge pony aficionado as a result. I've sunk what money I could into it... getting a Y-pipe with Flowmaster mufflers (the install was done by a guy name Ricky who raced his 5.0 on PINKS), throwing in a CAI I got for $40 off eBay, and because I work at a car wash, the paint looks newer than when I first got it.
Here's the dilemma... I recently got a new job that pays well enough for me to afford a GT or even a 03-04 SVT, if I could find one that isn't $30k+ because it only has 10k miles... problem is, I still feel love for my pony and I know that I would have a lot of liquid assets to work with in customizing a new one. So, assuming that I decide to stay true to my roots and let my dad continue having the only 8 cylinder in the family, should I wait 18 months and see what the changes in the 2010 model year are offered for the pony? The idea of a factory twin-turbo V6 would take a load off my mind and would offer economic and ergonomic advantages over my plans to install a turbo in a 4.0. After seeing what a local gear head did with his 5.0, I've decided that turbo is definitely the way to go. If anyone has any insight into the disadvantages I may experience with a turbo in a 4.0 daily driver, I'd appreciate the forewarning. Also, on a bit of a side note... I have $4000 in car audio hardware in my current car, which is about what my car is worth. If I don't want to take it all out and nuke it back to stock, is my only option for getting good value on it to sell it private party? Or would a dealership take the value of the system into account when calculating the trade-in value? I know this post is kind of all over the place... I'm only 20-years-old, but I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Mustang enthusiast and plan on owning a pony in some form for the rest of my life. Now that I'm just starting my career, I'd just like some input on how I should approach the next step in car ownership. I look forward to any advice or input. Thanks. |

take out your audio stuff, put it in the termi/ mach 1 you buy. Sell your sixer and buy a sweet gently used street bike for 50+ mpg/ 200+ mph. Depending on where you live, you might want a shitty car to drive in the winter. My $ .02

I want to know why it's your moms fault for your
car getting repo'ed. It shouldn't have gotten repo'ed if you were making payments on your car.

The dealer will only valuate your trade based on the price guide which doesn't factor in non-OEM components. A private party won't pay significantly more either. + 1 to Pulling the audio stuff!

I agree with the people saying to save some money and putting it into your living place but if you must go with a V8, the Termi would be badass. (but Mach's are nice too...althought I'm a tad bit biased lol)

why the hell is 4k woth of audio in your car? sounds (pun lol) like a waste of money to me. You dont need the greatest out there a good 500-750 dollar setup would do just damn good enough.
edit: depending if you buy it from the correct places for a good buy (ie not best buy) |

yeah......so 4k doesnt necessarily mean he has subs everywhere.....he prolly has good amps, with components systems with a nice cross over.....ideally set up to an equalizer...etc.
