Hey! Im New!

Hey guys! Im new to MM and i want to become active at it. Let's see. I got a 2003 Mustang . Its dark red with grey cloth int. It came with the mach1000 system which was a suprise when i came and opened the trunk. The eyecather when i bought it was the miles... only 15k! i thought that was cool. I want to get into cars and everything. Ive always like racing and stuff. Any suggestions as to upgrades¿ I got the car in March '06 and i was fading away from it after i drove a friends 99cobra. Anyways anything on tips and tricks would be awsome! Thanks guys! (i'll post pictures when i get my camera)

I love the mach1000 system- definitely ford's best factory audio system!

you will definitel love the power of the cobra, but you could either modify your 6 or drop in a v8.

modifying the v6 can go from bolt ons like me- run a mid 14 in the quarter as opposed to the stock 16- to a stroked 4.2L from supersix motorsports that will make more rwhp than the GT 99-04, and on a lighter platform so it will be faster!

just let us know if you want to keep the 6 or go to an 8 and we can help you out. welcome to MM!

Well since ive had my car for a while i was actually looking at a cobra. There are a few '99 Cobras over here in Jacksonville for around $14k, Im sad to say that 13,800 was what i paid for mine. I think i should have looked into faster cars for the money but things happend to quick. Anyways, those cars seem like good buys. I dont know about the reliability or anything like that on them. Another thing...are all cobras SVT¿ All of them are convertibles. Does that change anything. And one final question, How long does a supercharger or turbo last before it starts to wear out¿ Thanks guys.

^ you'd probably be better off with a 98-96 cobra or 03-04.

as for the Jeff, idk i guess thats jus a thought. i dont think he'd really suggest doing that...

now as for pirate 1117 again...stroking your motor would be a pretty good idea...im really considering once i get my next 6er, that or bolt ons and a power pak
with a stage 3 power pak and bolt ons the v6 should be able to take any 04 and lower cobra stock...

Thats cool. I was just lookin at 99 because i was thinking later year more reliablility... the car will be my daily driver about 30miles a day so im lookiing for something with low miles . Anything that is $8-13k with under 50kmiles aceptions for any cobras65k miles id say. Just wanna be able to have the car a long time. BTW are cobra-r's really expensive and\or rare... i mean... ive never seen one for sale i wouldn't know.

idk what they come with...i know that today i change my rims to my older stock rims so i can sell my car...i drove it and i noticed a pretty noticable differance...
kinda makes me wana find some light wieght rims.....kinda, but i dunno

i think the cobras are 9inches(rims) wide tho all around, and if not they're 8

idk man...i'd wait til someone who knows more tells you...
but i was lookin into a 99-02 cobra and most sed to get a 98 or 03/04 ...

whoa- so much misinformation in this thread.

all pre 2007 cobras are svt- ford special vehicles team.
not all are convertibles, but all are manual transmission
the 96+ cobras are 4v modular v8 with dohc
the 96-98 have a standard rear axle assy. not IRS
the 99-01 are IRS and the 99 year had many many recalls on the rear
IRS is not best for straight line performance at all
you should be able to find a 98 cobra with 70k miles for about 10k bucks in GA, FL is no different
03-04 are ideal as they have the whipple twin screw and can make a lot of power with just a pulley swap
cobras come with 17x9 wheels and a 275mm tire out rear should be substantial, or a drag radial is an option
if you want a cobra, get one, but since your can is low miles, mach 1000, etc., you may get more enjoyment out of building it- i would prefer a cobra anyday though.

The stock blower is an eaton which is a paddle blower...

Whipple is an aftermarket blower which is twin screw...Whipple and Kenne Bell worked together to make direct bolt-on kits for the cobra...

Ok sounds awsome... Im 17 going on 18 (nov17th). I went to the dealership because my dad wanted to just get a car for me and get it out of the way. I wanted a '01 Camaro z28 but that was out of the question when the "nice" salesman said he rolled his into a tree. Real nice of him to ruin it for me. I told my dad he was a stupid ass driver and it was probably a civic...not a camaro. He said it was almost final that i had to get a v6 so i looked at mustangs. First of all. It was my money to begin with. I was gonna get a V8 i was lookin at for about 3weeks(a mach1). We went to the dealership and my dad found a 16kmile white 5speed 02 for $12k. I had my sights set on the one right next to it. A yellow GT. Anyways ...yada yada.... we ended up getting the v6 . I loved it at the time and all summer break. It was my first 5spd. It's fun! The only discouraging thing, almost 8 months later, everytime i mention getting a supercharger or intake...H-pipes...cobra replica rims nice tires his answer is always "IT'S ONLY A V6!" .... hipocritically because he drivers a freakin VW TDI Jetta... Luxury but a gutless wonder for h\p. So... when i hit 18 im just gonna do whatever. TRYING to save up money for a big decision come spring '07. I apreciate all your guys' help any more info tips tricks that would be awsome. And one last thing... I live in Jacksonville FL Zip-32259 if ANYONE comes across ANY V8 mustangs that are 5-6spd for around $14k plz email-me or something my email is PIRATET1117@hotmail.com
