96 Overheating

i have a 96 v6 mustang and the temp. gauge in the dash shoots up to hot after about 10 min. of driving. my coolant resevoir tank is also bone dry but has no leaks. it also blows out cold air when i put the heat on. theres no smoke coming from anywhere, exhaust or engine. anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong?? thanks

yea ... the heater thing... you will wanna check the heater core hose... its right behind the ditributer... and runs to a metal pipe right above the valve cover ... follow that all the way to the firewall...

check your fuses too... and put some coolant in it...

i might be able to help you with the heater hose if its blown ... or split ... i replaced mine.. its a pain

It sounds like you may have a blown head gasket. Check and see if your losing any coolant or if theres any residue collecting on the inside of the radiator. Signs of blown head gasket would be Upper radiator hose is very pressurized after running for more then 10mins but only air is in it, not radiator fluid. Your heat also will not function. it will seem to be a problem with the thermostat not opening, however thats not the case.

If your coolant level has not changed at all and no residue is found then consider replacing the thermostat.
