If his parents put rules on him like sports first, then guess what? They are his PARENTS. They prolly bought the car and have already taken into account repairs. If your car runs better Congrats I'm happy for you, Im gonna at elast give it a temporary try with the gapping thing, Some cars run differently than others, it might work it might not.

And by the way 12 bux is alot for spark plugs. Im making 27k a year and I have a wife and two kids, with a third on the way. By the tiem the bills get paid I have enough gas to get me to work till the day before the next payday. I have to use my bankcard as credit knowing the paycheck clears at midnight. So keep in mind everyone has their own circumstances.
thank you finally someone that understands. my bad if it's in the wrong section but we talked about it here so i figured i would post it here and let you know how it worked.

Silver is the highest conducting metal, with Copper almost right on its ass in near 2nd. The reason people go with Platinum or Iridium is because they last longer. A copper plug will wear out quicker than a platinum or Iridium plug will. The gapping is also different with a platinum/iridium plug compared to a copper plug......which produces almost the same spark energy as copper, just with a longer life span.

^ +1 but the negative side to the platinum
plugs is that under high heat conditions the tips tend to melt.

Yeah, there are different variations of the platinum plug though. The stock plugs in a mustang are motorcraft platinum. I dont think they are double platinum, just single.

I use iridium plugs now. Havent had any issues with them yet.

I just paid over 12 bucks a plug for my cobra, so, 12 bucks for 6 plugs isn't going to break your wallet guys. oh, btw, I paid 1.59 for 6 plugs for the 3.8. Tight budgets are a complete pita, I know, I am on one for the next three years. but to the original poster: I doubt it'll hurt with the gap at .65 instead of the recommended specs. Just wonderin tho, if you can't afford 12 dollar plugs, how'd you get all the stuff in your sig? santa?

imo i feel like it restricts the air flow when your not moving. like when i take off from a stop and go wot it seems like it is dying for air like the filter its getting cut off from air. now from like 40 mph and up it works great. it gets a lil better throttle response and gets much colder air. i have recently taken it off because i didn't like how the car took off. like i said it felt like it was dying for air. and i would rather get a whole shot than a lil bit of power at like 40 mph.

well i had the air filter covered like the first picture. it was getting sucked up to the filter and cutting off the flow.
now i have it like the second pic. it doesn't do anything it is just attached a lil bit to the filter so it won't move.

if you made a new airbox, and then ran that dryer hose down under your bumper...it would work.....The way you currently have it looks as if its restricting the car from gettin the air it should be getting.

I'm a member of the site, albeit a new one, but still a member and my opinion is worth as much as anyone who chimed in unsolicited.

As far as the post belonging on tech? it was responding to the original thread which belongs in tech, spark plug gap... If I wanted to deal with a**holes I'd go to 3.8mustang blog or one of them, so how about you lay off?
