97 Motor top end vs 99+ Motor Top end.

Now, while not a complete rookie on vehicles, I am not incredibly knowlege on the 3.8...

I see there are differences between the 98 and earlier 3.8s and the 99 up 3.8's....

Is there an advantage to the 99+?
can you change over the top ends, if the 99+ is an improvement? or is that quite the challange and hassle?

I am getting ready to order a stage 2+ or 3 engine kit, and would like to know if I should go with exactly what I have, or grab the 99+ kit....

the intake manifolds designs. both lower and upper are split port- having 12 intake pipes for the 6 cylinders. there is a crossover long and a direct shot short pipe for each cylinder that gets more air flow in, and better flow through the powerband.

the cam is different.

there are some other differences too, but i an't recall them off the top of my head

Anyone here by any chance ever done one of these swaps?

also, if I did go with this swap (RPM has a kit...) how would this affect possible supercharger upgrades? Would I then need to purchase the supercharger kit for the 99+ vehicles, or would I be kind of stuck in limbo??
