problem shifting between gears in auto

I own a 2004 3.8 automatic. I was noticing today that when I shift from park to drive, reverse to drive, or drive to reverse, something in the rear end of my car creaks, and the back end lifts up a little (enough to be noticeable). I'm not positive if any of this is normal or not, but I'm pretty sure Ive never heard the creaking before. Is something wrong with my car? its only got 28k miles on it, and the only mod on it is dual exhaust, so this isn't a result of a mod gone wrong. It's really bothering me thinking about it.. can someone give me some ideas on what it could be?

The the first gear solenoid is notorious for going bad on the auto stangs. However, your car seem pretty new to have that happen. That is the only thing I can think of sorry.

wrong. i believe the 1st half of 04 was 3.8 and the 2nd half of 04 was 3.9. so he could have a 3.8

It is a 3.8, not a 3.9.

Is this a serious issue? And how can I fix it? The car is completely stopped when I'm switching gears and it's doing this. I haven't tried it again this morning yet-- I will on the way to work. Any more suggestions and info would be good until I can get someone to look at it closely, or get a chance to look at it myself.

I just drove it to work. The car drives fine, it just creaks when I'm changing the gears. I'm thinking I was playing it up to be a bigger deal than it is. I recently changed the oil from conventional to synthetic-- could this partly be my car adjusting to the new type of oil, or anything like that?

I don't see how that would cause what you're describing. Check your transmission fluid.
