CAI advice?

So I have decided to put a cold air intake (mainly because I heard it ups MPG) in my 2000 v6 mustang and had a few questions:

1. Does brand matter?

2. How much should I expect to pay for good one?

3. What kinds of MPG increases are you guys seeing?

It doesnt matter what brand it is, they ALL work the same. So if you want to pay extra money for a brand name then go for it. My advise is get this CAI: Mustang V6 Cold Air Intake Kit at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Ive had this CAI for awhile and i like it a lot. With no problems at all

Well thats the thing, Im kinda cheap (as in I don't like spending more than I have to, although I do sometimes) but one thing i have learned is that you get what you pay for, and I have seen them range from $70-$300 and I wondered if it really mattered. Are there small things that make a more expensive one better? (like some you have to drill yourself for sensors or stuff)

Also what's the difference between a high-flow air kit and CAI?

Well people on here like chris, johnson, and gf say brand doesnt matter. They all know what they are talking about. From MY personal experience my friend has a bbk cai on his 04 gt and i helped installed it and hes had problems with his, vs my cai that i bought cheap and installed myself and dont have a problem with it.

if you want cheep just get a K&N drop in filter and remove the silencer

CAI isnt really worth the money if you have minimal mods

are you just looking to add looks under your hood or make your car faster?

No none of them make you drill holes for your sensors (not that i know of). Brand names make them more expensive.

Actually, I do not expect it to make the car faster... lol... I wanted the MPG increase, and I figured the extra noise was a plus

JLT and C&L are larger, but are still over priced... its not worth it for .5 horse power... if you have nitrous then the added flow will help a little, but porting and polishing will help more then cold air intakes

Ya, DeMello, brand name really will not matter long run, because if you get into serious modding such as turbo/super, the CAI has to come off anyways. If your just doing it for a slight increase in MPG, go with something cheaper. It works exactly the same. In all honesty, for the best MPG improvement, take your foot off the floor board. It may not feel like your driving with a heavey foot, but if you watch your speed, dont accelerate quickly, use cruise control on high way and such, you will see a great improvement if you do have somewhat of a heavey foot.
