could be an AODE or 4r70w if it is an automatic

because in swaping a 01 3.8....
it should be direct fit with everything right?

as long as you keep in mind that 94-00 3.8 engines depending on the build date (mid 2000) are externally balanced. If you used a 94-00.5 3.8 flexplate/flywheel with the 00.5+ 3.8 neutral/internally balanced engine it would cause issues.
