New Pics... Painted Interior, etc.

Hey everyone, Got my interior done up..also painted my grill to match...not sure if I like that better yet or not...lol

I got lucky and the color of my car is "Performance Red" and the High Temperature Engine paint matches the cars color perfectly for the grill area.

Heres a few pics..

everything comes out with 2 or less bolts, including the center dash trim. everything just "pops" out. i painted mine black a couple yrs back. yours looks good, but stay easy on the red- almost baroque in there!

haha nah it;s pretty easy but take your time cause when that paint drips or runs. you can't fix it without sanding it but you have ot wait for it to dry properly otherwise you'll just rub the paint everywhere lol lesson learned here. just nice light coats like 5 of them and go hard. o yeah make sure it's clean

the problem i would have is my interior is the grey/black so the passenger side air bag is grey and i cant take that out easily. It seems like it would be a huge project.

the air bag o yeah might be a bit of fun. but the rest is like maybe a day most of it just pops out liek the vents just spin them all the way down and they should click out of place. but the vent housings are bolted in you gotta un due them. the centre console just pops out work with the bottom piece first then the top. and the piece around the odometer has a torque screw i think holding it in. so undue those and the little pull out knob for your lights is held on by a clip so get a some small enough to fit into the little slit in there and pop it off and thats pretty much all of it expect the door jams and well those are a gimmie just don;t break the clip on the bottom part. if you do go buy a new one i epoxyed my old one and not even that would hold it. and the top vent up by your windshield also pops out.

Yeah AtlBlue, not sure how long I sat in my car and
pondered the 3 colors...lol

Wish it was all black...and I don't think I'm going to go thru the HELL of painting all the gray black...so I'll buy black parts as I find them...work in progress kind've thing...

I planned on doing the grill delete and jsut had NEVER seen a grill painted to match so Itried it out...I LIKED it better the first day I did it...I guess because I was proud to have successfully taken apart my whole front bumper to get to it and do it right..lol

ONE WORD OF ADVICE....you need OEM Radio Pullers to get the radios out to get at the center console to have it come off...They look like coat hangers shaped like U's...

DO NOT JAM THEM in as far as they will go and then pull on them...BUST YOUR HAND UP THAT WAY... IKNOW!!

Put them in, gently, not all the way, then pull them apart (outward) then it the radio just slides out...umm that sounded weird..anyway dont force it..

ALSO, if your interior parts have never been painted, try using rubbing alcohol on them really good before painting instead of sanding that way they keep their texture but the paint still sticks...like was said above LIGHT COATS!!!!!!!! don't go mad on the first coat!!!! Build it up...

Shoot me a line if anyone comes across black interior parts for a 99-2000 model...

THANKS for the compliments!!!!

You mayy be able to tell in the pics but I am also wet sanding my side mirrors to have them painted to match...TOUGH job but working on it a little each day...we'll see how that goes when I get paid at the end of the month and have them painted..

heard about a DYE that BLEEDS into the parts to dye them whatever color, wonder if that would be easier for the BIG parts like the passenger side air bag...
??

Anyone know anything about that kind of stuff?

Or should I do a CRUSHED BLACK VELVET over it...lol JUST KIDDING!!!

ALSO I can't get my damn headlight KNOB to go back on and stay on now...crap!!!...Keeping a pair of needle nose pliers in the floor board is a pain...anyone else have this problem before?...doesn't look like anything broke when I took it off...??...hmm..

i have heard about the dye, but it fades in the sun. most people just find a wrecked junkyard stang with the interior of choice and steal the headliner, dash, door panels, rear inner trim, visors, seats... for under 500 bucks

Hey Chris AutoZone sells some special interior paint 5.00 a can though...
Most important is your PREP work though.,...

Read up on that, to make sure it sticks, doesn't bubble up etc..

yea thats where i'll most likely be getting the paint

im doing the top dash black, and the rest will probably stay dark grey/gray....it i do it all black i dont think it'll look good...but the outside is gunna be black, black rims with the chrome lip like my car is now but instead of just rear light tints im getting them all around along wiht window tints. it'll look bad ass
