So it looks like all the damage was in #1 cylinder. It shows damage to the piston and valve and the hole in the oil pan is below it, plus #1 piston doesn't move.
You might be lucky enough to just need a new piston/rod assembly and a few new valves, plus possibly a new or reground crankshaft. Between the two engines you have you should be able to build one good one and have parts left over. |

Also a new crankshaft from Ford is ~$270 and a new rod is ~$80 if you want to go that route.

its not worth it though
i can get a 4.2L crank for nearly half that price. and a rod for $50 i'd need about $100 in bearings $80 oil pan none includes shipping then i need, timing cover gasket, front crank seal, clean the block, which then new cam and balance shaft bearings also you cant see my camshaft but the wear is pretty nasty on it. obdnanrs motor is in awsome shape looks new with oil in it his camshaft is in awsome condition as well my 00 block i will use for future 4.2/4.3L build i see where your coming fromt but its much easier to just use obdnanrs motor his timing cover is still on. nothing is broken. just going to clean his oil pan and paint it. install that and clean off his cylinders. then clean the surface where the head meets and just wait till i've got my set of heads om working on done. Im considering a light regrind camshaft w/longer push rods and shims

Wow dude that really sucks. Good luck. I hope that you're not out of commission for too long. BTW how are you getting around without the stang?

It makes sense to put a used short block in for now to get it running again and later build your current motor to a 4.2. If you are planning to drag race the car you really should have more than one engine anyway, since things are likely to break.
