Need help with brakes - fast

Ok so I was working on Painting my brake calipers when i did something incredibly stupid...It was so stupid that im not even going into detail about it. But the problem is that now i have a brake piston (i believe thats what its called) not in its place.

So how do i fix this...Just stick it back in or what?

You applied the brakes when it wasn't on the rotor

Yeah it should go back in, but make sure you don't rupture
the rubber seal. It may have to go in first.

ps, you probably know brake fluid eats paint, be carefull.

Yup, you partially got it....I knew i should have just searched on how disk brakes work instead of trying it out . Then once it was mostly out because of applying the brakes i tried using a C-clamp to push it back in, but i didn't know that i wasnt supposed to put the clamp inside the hole. So the clamp got stuck in the hole and i had to pull out the whole thing, thus ending in me being sprayed with brake fluid

And is the rubber seal the piece that my fingers are on in the second pic.? I'm sure it is, but just want to double check. Also about the brake fluid...After i get it all back together the brake fluid will fill itself up or what? And i am supposed to use a c-clamp to push it back in right?

Oh, and i found out that the fluid eats paint after being sprayed with it and all the paint on my hands came off . Much easier than scrubbing lol

I must say...The calipers look REALLY good. I was expecting it to come out bad since everytime i try painting something it sucks, but it looks nice

you are probably going to need to bleed the brakes and top off the fluid after that

You should be able to push it in easily since the system is open now.
Put something flat over the hole to use a C-clamp.
Be sure the brake pads aren't soaked w/ brake fluid or they're ruined.
If its just a little, it may clean up with parts spray.
After its re-assembled you will need to bleed the brakes, at least that one for sure.

Yeah, you did a nice job painting, that color looks good!

Ok, so...push piston in with c-clamp (the right way this time), then bleed the brakes, then add more fluid

Is that right? or would i add fluid then bleed the brakes?

fluid, bleed the brakes, more fluid if its low after you bleed them, drive around then if the pedal still feels squishy (lol) bleed again

Sorry for double post

but is this right?

All i did was roll up the rubber piece like the other one was and slid the piston (well not much of a slid, but used the c-clamp to get in)

I'm now going to have to do another 1-2 more coats of paint because of the fluid

Looks OK. From your pictures above and the shop manual, the seal and boot go into groves in the piston and you are supposed to lubricate it with brake fluid and push it in. It appears to be assembled correctly. After you have it back together just bleed that caliper and check the pedal travel. If it is OK your done. If not bleed the other lines.

Yeah, It makes it look a whole lot better if you have rims that you can see the calipers clearly.

Here's the finished pic

i'm surprised you got it in with a c clamp. my old man and i had to rummage through his tool chest for a special tool that turns the piston to allow it to suck back in.. but come to think of it that may have just been the rears. either way, it looks great man.

Has to do with the parking brake setup, had me stumped also, the first time I did the back brakes.
