tuner can take off the limiter...but be warned just bc u can go that fast doesnt mean its safe. tires need to be rated that high too

Really...winning a race isn't about how fast you go; it's about how fast you can get there.

+1 make sure your tires can handle it. Also, make sure that you are ready to handle the car at that kind of speed. You need to be VERY VERY careful going that fast. I know that if you get caught doing it here in VA (not on a track) that you will go to jail for it! However, if you still want to a tuner will let you. Click the link in my sig for the best place to get a tuner. Tell them that you're an MM member to get a discount. Also, the tricktuners website has tons of info about tuners and tuning. If you have questions about it check it out.

Not necessarily true.. Tires are rated for the speeds they are after hours of testing. If he were to pop it up to 150 or so for a few minutes on some shitty tires I'd venture to say that he would be fine. I've done it.

But to rebut my own arguement... I almost slid out into a rough looking cactus doing 100+ in a masterplan community called Las Sendas. The road snaked a little bit and my front end just all the sudden stopped tracking. I had to aim my shit towards the cactus, brake, and then turn away. I looked at the skid marks the next day and I have no idea how I didn't crash. What's shitty though is I was following my buddy in a GT and he took the corner just fine.

So if you're gonna be doing 100 plus, find a straight, flat stretch of road. And yes, flat is important, because I've bottomed out my stang and had to replace the oil pan, which means pulling the engine, which sucks.

good points ^. Id like to add that the different suspension and stuff on the GT's is what makes going that fast "safer" (its still dangerous either way).

if you plan on going that fast...one make sure it isnt a public road. Don't do this on the streets.

Also upgrade your entire suspension, and get better tires and brakes. Just because you can go that fast doesn't mean you should.

I have a custom tune and the speed limiter has been removed on my V6 stang, as I plan on trapping in the 120's, on the Dragstrip. As for the Mach1 I own, the speed limiter is 151mph and I see no real need to change it.

Even in straight lines, stock Mustangs can become unstable at relatively low speeds into the 100s. A 1 inch deep hole or the slightest uneven surface can cause the car to lose control. Stock suspension and soforth is not conducive to race speeds. The shape of a Mustang is way to close to the cross section of an airfoil. The car gets squirrely at speeds... especially the back end even in straight lines.

Put a NOZ sticker on the fender and wear a helmet and you'll be fine.

if you lost control after hitting a 1 inch hole then i'm sorry its you not the car. i routinely hit 115 (the governor) in my v6 on bush highway going out to the local lake here in mesa. It his been nicknamed roller coaster road because of the whoops and overall shittiness of the road, yet it is straight. I have yet to lose control driving on that road and I swerve when I hit the whoops to transfer weight to the sides of the car instead of bottoming out my oil pan again. Stop trying to scare the kid.

Ok guys, thanks for all the information and i just checked, my tires are rated "up to 130". Other than that just the entire suspension and brakes? and what about a good aftermarket spoiler, how much will that improve my handling?

lol, if they are trying to scare me they haven't succeeded! There is a road that doesn't have any houses and very little traffic, but it doesn't have a lot of room, and no shoulders, it is straigh, except for a small swerve near the end but it does have a few dips that you don't really feel unless you are driving 80ish +. I have hit 115 on that road a few times no problems so far (knock on wood!)

these cars can hit 140mph stock suspension better tires
but theres no need. what to say you did?

i've hit 137mph before i stopped for a truck

theres no big great feel for it
especially for stock cars it'll take you guys forever to get to 120+
unless your running f/i going past 100 isnt worth the race. i usually only race to 125mph because that where my 4th gear will cut out. and 5th is a pointless race
