the 8.8 can handel harder launched than a 7.5 truetrac because of stronger spider gears. you can beef up a 7.5 with a t-lok, but the spider gears are still weak.

4.10s are the best gear for a n/a auto, 3.73 for supercharged auto, and 3.55 for the turbo.
actually im pretty sure they dont make the 3.55s for the 7.5...u can ask chris but i think me and him had a conversation about them not making those for that cuz i was lookin into gettin em for mine, but i think i might just stick with the stock gears and put in a tlok....but then again im not lookin for over 300 horsepower

No. A stock 8.8 will definitely NOT handle harder launches than a 7.5 with a truetrac. The 8.8 will hold up just fine for these power levels, but it is not stronger than a 7.5 with a truetrac. Putting a tlok in a 7.5 is not 'beefing' it up, the tlok is the weak link.

Built 8.8 > truetrac 7.5 > stock 8.8 > tlok 7.5

Hard launches are the main killer of tloks. People have broken tloks with power levels just above stock (<180rwhp) because they launch hard. You could have 250 rwhp, but if you never do any hard launches, a tlok will probably be fine.

only hard launches the car will see is just from stop to go...no holding the brake or anything and no slicks...i think it would hold fine

ok, so if my rear end doesn't hold up and my tlok (or whatever i get) breaks, could/would it damage anything else?

she spider gears are usually the first thing that goes in a rear end. truetrac or not, the 7.5 spider gears wont hold up to what the 8.8 spider's will hold up to

and you are right about the 3.55's... i just googled it and couldnt find them for the 7.5

i did find 3.45's for the 7.5 which would be good with turbo as well... heres the linky
Richmond - Diff Gears - 7.5" -

ok, thanks coastie i'm think i'll try for the 8.8, if its much more expensive then i'll stick with the 7.5 truetrac.

Here is the list of which i'm thinking about

1. Dual Exhaust w/flowmaster 40's (they cut the y-pipe and run a new pipe on the other side)

2. 8.8 rear end

3. Tuner

4. 3.55 gears

5. Windstar upper intake swap

6. Shift kit

7. Fuel system

8. Ignition

9. Nitrous (75-100 shot)

10. TMA Turbo

11. Brakes (slotted rotors and ceramic disc pads?)

12. Suspension

13. Torque Converter

Christ, you have no idea what you are talking about. This is completely incorrect. There are no spider gears in a truetrac, it is an entirely different design. Let me put it a little more clear: if you put a truetrac in a 7.5 rear it will be stronger than a stock 8.8.

If you put a tlok in a 7.5, then there is a high chance that the spider gears will break if launched aggressively.
