Most of the people on here that use SCT uses SCT X3. Im not sure about the livewire but it looks pretty cool. Damn what kind of job do you have!?

check out the link in my sig. It will tell you all you need to know. Plus as an MM member you will get a really good price...plus 2 years of free custom tunes. The livewire is really cool because it can act like a gauge and give you all kinds of real time info. As far as the tuning process, it is pretty much the same as the xcal.

I read it comes with software and has enough space on it to hold the pre-loaded tunes and it can hold like 3 custom tunes that you make with the software? is that right?

BTW I would say MOST of the people on here that use an SCT tuner probably have the Xcal2 because the Xcal3 is pretty new. And there is not enough of a difference between the two to warrant getting the X3 if you already had the X2. In fact I could have gotten the X2 or the X3 for the same price. I went with the X2 because at the time the X3 was unproven and still a bit buggy. Either way the livewire is nicer but more expensive.

It can hold three custom tunes plus your stock tune...however you're gonna want to let a custom tuner write those tunes for you. If you get it from tricktuners you'll get 2 years of free custom tunes!

Im thinking about going with the livewire cause it seems like you can do more with it than just plug it up to your car, it says it comes with software to make your own custom tunes and i would like to be able to change some stuff around soo....

The live wire is better because it allows you get real time info without using a laptop. As far as tuning unless you REALLY REALLY know your shit (which you don't or you wouldn't have needed to ask about this) then you should leave the tuning to a professional! They can "change anything around" that you want. Do you know how custom tuning works anyway? when you buy your tuner they will ask you a lot of questions about your cars current setup. You should also tell them what your goals are and what your looking for from the tuner. Based on that they will write a tune or tunes for your car. Once you load the tune on your car you will then data log that tune and send the data to your custom tuner. They will refine and perfect your tune(and change anything that you want changed). You then load the new tune and repeat the process until you are happy with what you have. However, if you really want to do all the tuning yourself you should get a sniper not an SCT. Seriously man click the link in my sig and do some reading. that will answer most of your questions.

oh yeah I almost forgot the x2 and x3 do allow you to make some minor changes to your tune yourself.

Yeah SSStang but you know what you're doing, for a beginner at tuning sniper is easier. However, I think SCT is better. My advice is for him to get a livewire from Joe...and let Joe tune it. Also note, I did even make mention of the user tuning options on the X2 and X3. I know the livewire does allow for user tuning. I just think that he should let Joe do the tuning.
