Mac catback question

well.. I've had my Mac catback (for the stock y pipe) for about a month and when I bought it I didn't want something too loud, and I guess I got what I was wanting. At initial start up it sounds great, then once it goes to normal idle you can't hear it what so ever inside the car. I guess I'm looking for that happy medium quiet and not super loud. So my question is, is it the mufflers that are restricting the sound, or should I go to a shop and have them fab. me up a h pipe and throw my mufflers on it, or am I just sol?

when i was getting my dual setup done the muffler dude was telling me that once i put on the second muffler i'd probably lose some volume. but it was actually much louder. but, i don't know, try it and see what happens, it'll look good though.

MACs aren't quiet at all. It's because you have the stock midpipe still up there. My MACs are louder than a lot of other setups.

if u want to get technical, the h will have deeper sound, and the x will have a tad raspier sound. the x will be slightly better performance wise.

Not true with the v6 since the 3.8, 3.9, and 4.0L are all even fire engines so there is always an equalization of gasses. There is no performance gain of one over the other with the v6, and even with the v8's it's not enough of a gain to make a difference. It's only about 1 peak hp of a difference.

When your goin to look for a midpipe look for the sound you want not the power your lookin for.

If you want more power your gonna have to do a LT headers, and a shorty midpipe, and thats if you plan on keeping the car n/a, supercharged, or nitrous. If you want it to be turbocharged don't mess with the exhaust yet.
