reoiling my filter

okay so i got under my car today and pulled out my filter, when i took it out it was nice and dirty so sprayed the cleaner on it and in the process i couldnt help but realize how much the cleaner smelled like windex, is that what is actually is? also, i have the oil in the spray can, any tips besides 3" away? the last time, im pretty sure i put to much oil on it....as it was still wet when i took it off today versus 3 months ago...

just put a nice light coat of oil on the filter. any more, and you risk getting oil on the MAF sensor and screwing it all up...

no the bottle is not windex but does have a similar smell, as far as cleaning your filter...i would go by the directions to the "T" make sure u rinse from inside out never the opposite, let dry for at least 1 hr in a well ventellated area make sure its totally "DRY" when you start to apply the Oil, now when spraying the Oil on it, I normally tent to hold the Filter on the ring never touching the filter itself and spray evenly give or take 3"-4" away from the filter from tip to end over oiling it will screw something up just like "00vabchgt" said it could mess up ur MAF and u dont wanna do that also over oiling will cause less air to get threw eating up power etc..so just be carefull its very Ez to over oil with the spray.
