anybody home?

i havent been here in a little bit, and the v6 forum has nothing unread in it!!

where are all the 6ers?

anyway, just wanted to mention what i think im going to buy soon and get some confirmations taht it is in fact stuff i should be doing now.

anyway, i know i was saying i want heads and cam and what not, but im still saving for that stuff.

for now i think i want to get the tunable induction full length intake, xcalibrator 2 (from stangsuspension, i like the guy ive dealt with there - and it comes with 2 tunes. one for 87 and one for 91/93)

and maybe ill get an underdrive p. for the hell of it.

anyway what do you guys think? and what do you think itll give me.

thats all? i thought it would be a little more (not that much more, but slightly)

there is a dynosheet (though i dont konw where it came from) on the tunable induction website that shows (read: claims) 12.5 rwhp...

and i figured ( but i could very well be completely wrong) the pully + tuner together would be 15-20 (rough top of the head numbers)? or am i being way optimistic here....

sometimes it is hard to believe the mfg's dynosheets... there are so many variables that can be changed in the enviroment... plus the whole mustang dyno vs. dynojet type of topic regarding the readings of differant dynomometers.

just go search on v6power.net or 3.8mustang.com im sure someone at either site has the same setup, and might have run theirs on a dyno?

i suggest the sct xcal 2 art. i got mine a couple weeks back and i got it tuned for 93+ octane, no speed limiter, rev limiter at 6krpms, very frim shifts and it is the power tune only with o/d off. with overdrive on, it shifts at 3500 and wont go higher than 4krpms. very fuel economic until you want the power. also, capapbilities for changing the rear gears are built in to the programmer, so i don't need additional tunes for my gear swap. and you can change your ecu for the gears you have...

i got it on sale from mustangtuning for 379.99, the cheapest price (free shipping), and you can get cai's from ebay to densecharger/ tunable induction (cheapest to best). id go with the TI full length though.

i got my crank pulley from rpmoutlet last year. 42% reduction, billit aluminum, like 100 bucks shipped or so, and install took less than an hour.

advertised gains from these products are: CAI- 5rwhp, U/D Pulley- 17rwhp (more like 10 though), and XCal 2- 20+rwhp (dunno about exact numbers, but it pulls hard from 3k-6k roms and shifts back into 4krpms ) the xcal 2 makes the world of difference for the auto tranny. i chirp 2nd gear with the auto on 305 tires and you can feel the pulling all through third. hell, i can be going 30 in low 3rd gear, floor it, drop to 1st gear and chirp through 2nd- endless fun. just keep overdrive on unless you want to spin and chirp at every stop.

hey atlantic,
OD on/off makes that much of a difference? i thought that just controled whther or not it would shift into the highest (the overdrive) gear.

right now im looking at getting the tuner from stangsuspension.com, since the last time i ordered a bunch of stuff it came from them, and the service was pretty good. does anyone know where they get the tunes from?

ps. with the gears, in the right temp and road conditions, i spin and chirp anyway

yea art, they tuned it that way at sct. i said i wanted a very aggressive tune and i wanted just one tune for 93 octane. they tuned it aggressive for o/d off, and the "valet tune" is for o/d on. so when o/d is on, it wont go past 3500 rpms. it stopped raining today so i went out for about an hour to kill off some steam.

o/d off is still only the 3 speed, but it is the aggressive part of the tune. that way i save gas when i dont need the power and i dont spin out all the time in the rain. also, it starts out in 2nd gear in the o/d on mode. so i dont spin in the rain anymore

i see, so is that "one" tune? i mean as far as having to connect the xcal to the car and flash it - youre saying both those 'settings' are in the same 'tune file'?

yea, same file. which makes it very convenient. no turning the knob on the fly for the fuel economic tune, just turn on o/d or turn off o/d...
