cooling problems

My car is a 1995 V6 manual. On running in heavy trafic without my AC on the water temperature will red-line. If I put the AC on it is OK. I checked under the hood and the fan comes on when it gets to temperature but will switch off when it gets hot. This fan does come on when the AC is put on. I did have to replace my computer for another problem but my cooling problem is still there. Any ideas?

+1 on the thermostat. I put a 180 in mine as soon as i got it, and now the dial stays on "c"

I have a secondary water temperature sensor and an oil temperature senser. They both says that I am overheating.

you would be better off running your heater fan than your AC fan to cool it.

Sounds like the fan control circuit is the problem. It is overheating in traffic because the fan isn't coming on. The A/C makes the fan run. You need to find out why the fan doesn't come on with the engine hot but A/C off.
