yes, but you will never reach the potential top speed due to friction on the road.

for example: your theoretical top speed is:

redline = 6k rpms for my car
at 3k rpms, i am at 75mph
75mph x 2 = 150mph, but my car will never exceede 125-130 on the road in perfect conditions.

Now the gears accelerate faster by multiplying torque. Read my Ring and Pinion Gear Article for more info. of why 4.10s are the best street gear regardless of tranny.

NATE Newbie Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 19	I have 3.73s and love them. My cars pulls alot harder than it did stock. Some say if you want a drag car to go with a lower gear like 4.10s but if u want a car that will be fast on the street as well as the track i would go with the 3.73s possibly even 3.90s
