Mid Budget Mods

looking for moderate budget mods for a 2000 v6 mustang. Just looking for ideas of price ranges and where to start. Looking for something fairly middle of the road for performance, somewhere between street and drag power. Most of my runs are just on the back roads in town, so the biggest thing is the jump off the line. Although having that damn chip that kicks in at 117 mph is somewhat annoying. If there's a decently priced fix for that, I'd appreciate it. Not sure where too start, although I read on your sticky to start with new gears. note: my mustang has the stock automatic.

I might not be a expert, but i went to www.3.8mustang.com and it was really helpful with the prices of parts. You should try it if you got time

what price range are you looking to start at?

you can do an exhaust system and cold air intake and an Xcal2 tuner...

dif gears there bud. The gears we talk about are in your differential. Get some steeper gears, and t-lok, but with that you will need a tune to fix your speedo.

I found some 4.10 gears for the 7.5" rear end for $150. Is a t-lok a separate unit i should be looking for? My other question is do i need an aftermarket chip to get an accurate speedo? or can they recal the stock chip to be accurate?

you need the t lok separate, but get it at the same time, because it is installed with gears at no extra cost...

you can recal for the speedo with a speedcal or sct xcal 2 depending on year and tranny:

maybe think about a doing full exhaust, gears w/t-lok, and a h/c/i swap with rpm-mustangs heads and cam and supersix's intake manifold, tuned xcal2, lowering springs, upgraded shocks/struts, and cc plates... that should dent your pocket for awhile and prove a sweet backroad driver. you can find the various vendors here
