aluminum flywheel
ok so I need to replace my clutch and I go to order my parts and I notice the aluminum flywheel by spec. Is this a good buy? What exactually would it so for me cause I read it would rev up faster.

well the stock on is probably steel or some shit, so thats heavy, and you loose hp to the wheels because it is heavy. the alum one is lighter so you will loose less hp to the wheels (the power that matters). whether or not this is noticeable i do not know.

basically your not gaining any horsepower from it, your freeing it up, pretty much like UD pullies and the aluminum driveshaft do.

as they said. its less rotating weight thus easier to turn freeing power
if you have the money aluminum flywheel and drive shaft is the way to go should notice a nice difference

A lighter flywheel will result in faster acceleration. Since horse power is essentially proportional to acceleration in effect you get more power. What it won't do is change the amount of energy needed to maintain a constant speed. That depends mostly on the amount of friction.

I might get the aluminum flywheel as well. Damn clutch is almost gone and I might as well do it at the same time.

Mine revs much faster in 1st, quite a bit faster in 2nd, and basically not noticeable in any other gear.
