ur 2000 mustang needs a new computer already? jeeze, i would do some more investigating but maybe you just got a bad one. But, as long as its from the same body style, i.e. 99-04, same drivetrain (auto or 5speed) and same engine (3.8 or 3.9), i dont think you will need any programming.

if its for your year and your car, you should be fine, idk about that whole wide span of 94-04 cause some of those had options through the computer that yours might not have.

uhh unless you had a nasty short that might have fried it, or you were in a wreck I would check and make sure everything is plugged in correctly also take off your neg battery cable for 15 mins let the code reset and test it again

that code is comming up cause you have a reflash on the computer. reset to stock drive for 75 miles then let autozone check it that will give you the code thats causeing the CEL if your PCM needed replacing youd have a lot more trouble than a CEL

i never thought of that......how he would obviously have more problems than just a light if the computer that controls the car is bat......huh. +1 rep for that one.

i would recommend to do wat GreenFaleen recommend and then unplug your negitive battery cable and leave it off for 20 min. then drive the vehicle for some miles and then have the pcm checked for codes. last option is what is called a HARD RESET you uplug the postive with the neg cable still on the battery and touch the postive cable to the neg cable making sure it is not touching the postive post of the battery. This is some thing we do at work to fix PCM and TCM problems.
