Auto Transmission Question
my car is a '97 with an Automatic....
My question is how do I know if it is the AODE or 4R70W? Some site's say its an AODE, some say its an 4R70W.... Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the main difference between the two the fact that the 4R70W transmission is a bit beefier, and has the wide ration gear set, with the lower ratio 1st and 2nd gears for better acceleration? |

You have the last year model that had the AODE. The 1998 Mustang was the first one equipped with the 4r70w. Yes you are right though. The 4r70w is beefier than the AODE
