For those with an SCT tuner from VMP.

I have a question.
I know I've seen the dyno gains, and all the reccomendations, so i've decided go to with SCT.

But what I haven't heard much of is how much did you feel the tuner wake up your car? I know it makes the car better depending on how many mods you have done. But is there a real noticeable difference?

I want to get gears, but I thought this would be better first.

Yeah, but I don't want to spend the extra 200 dollars to have them installed right now.
I want to do one last mod to it before I go to college.

But I can get a Posi unit from a friend for 100 dollars.
Where can I get a set of FRPP 4.10 gears?

+1 gears will do more. However, I think you should get the tuner first so you can use it to recalibrate your speedo. Also consider getting your tuner from trick tuners. Joe will give you 2 years of free retunes. That way you can get all the gains from just the tuner(which for me was about 20HP but I had some other mods) and then when you get the the gears you can get a tune for them for free. VMP will charge you every time you want a new tune. Also, I'm not sure but I think with our MM discount the tuner itself will be cheaper from trick tuners.

He can get the tuner for less than $380. Just not from VMP. Although I see your point. I just think the tuner is a better mod overall as well as a better mod for the money.

Won't be working the next couple of months because of college.
I have season tickets to the Iowa Hawkeyes games.
Ha, college is gonna rule.

Anywho, I was debating doing the tuner or just going with a few exterior mods for now, then a full overhaul during the winter.

a tuner is well worth the money
especially in thr future
with light bolt ons and a tune that could have used some worok it cut .3-4 off my 1/8 e/t
which is a lot for just a tuner

Honestly man, if you want to notice a difference and go quicker, get the sct xcal 2 or 3 tuner and then get the gears, you will NOT regret it. i have a 96 5spd with 373 gears posi and xcal 2 and it woke my stang up bigtime. yea its money but then again its very much worth it.

longtube headers and o/r h-pipe now. than save for gears/t-lok/tuner all at once. youll need to get the tuner and gears at the same time anyways to calibrate your speedo.
