studded main girdles

so im shopping for a studded main girdle, here are the one's i have found;

BTM http://www.bluetonguemotorsports.com...uctionSCGirdle

CMRE http://www.v6power.net/images/gaston/album2/photo9.jpg

Morana http://bmcneil2.tripod.com/sitebuild...studgirdle.jpg

Morana2 http://www.moranav6racing.com/img/Pr...es/windage.jpg

but it looks like the Morana girdles require me to cut the main caps, which im not looking to do, so it is really down between the CMRE and the BTM girdles.... share opinions!

From what I have seen the CMRE are the best out of your list.

The Morana girdles are a little overrated even though I am a big Morana fan I have seen some bad things in the girdles for some reasons. Don't really quote me on it or anything this is from my experiance alone. I don't have much of a problem with the BTM's cause I haven't seen the application of them much.

So my vote goes to the CMRE!

here is some info i gathered on the BTM girdle;

1. I was told that your main girdle is a modificationless installation is that true, including studs?
2. Is there a windage tray option, if so is it a new setup kinda like Morana did?
3. Can you post or e-mail any pictures of this?
4. how much does the girdle weight?

BT Motorsports
1. In the supercoupe stock 3.8 stroke application, the girdle bolts on without modifications. We spent a great deal of time working on fitment with various oil pans, so far, of the 2 dozen sold, no one has reported having to clearance the pan to date. The studs are cut down to clear the pan as well. A client who is building a 4.2 stroker motor recently purchased one and has agreed to pattern any changes he has to make for clearancing the rotating assembly. Upon receipt of this pattern, I will be incorporating these changes into the next generation.
2. Yes, there is a tray option. I am not familiar with what Morana offers, so I cannot answer that question. The tray option is a simple piece of aluminum plate which bolts to the girdle with standoffs. It is rough cut to fit the pan, however, you must final fit it upon installation which may require clearancing it to ensure proper oil drainback. All of the girdles are drilled and tapped to accept it regardless if the option is chosen.
3. I don't have any photos of the tray, however, I may be able to get some over the weekend. There really isnt much to see, it's just a plate of aluminum cut to shape.
4. That I have no idea of. Weight was not a consideration when the girdle was designed. If I weigh it, it will be on a calibrated scale and I do not expect I will have the opportunity to do so anytime soon.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask, just please be patient if I am slow in responding, things will be very hectic around here for the next few weeks (work schedule) so my time is extremely spread thin right now.

1. what type of studs are these? ARP?
2. do all of the studs come precut, what if we use the larger f150 4.2L oil pan?
3. are there any sugguested modifications to the oil pickup if using the girdle and tray combo?

BT Motorsports
1. ARP
2. Two of the studs are precut. I am unfamiliar with the 4.2 pan, however, if it offers more clearance, you could buy an uncut kit.
3. No modifications are needed when using the tray.

Paul

If you do go BTM pm me some of the info/review on it.

one of the other board members from v6power got the last BTM one, so Paul from BTM is waiting on his install so he can release a 2nd gen girdle which would also ensure that it was compatible with the mustang 3.8/f150 4.2 strokers...

looks like Paul/BTM is offering a 1 time group purchase for their custom 1 peice CNC studded main girdle for the ford 3.8 (supercoupe or latemodel mustang), and needs 5 buyers for a go...

http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73054

price is very steep, but a must for high power setups
