Winter Snow Tires

hello,

what's the smallest rim and tire size i could place in a 2003 mustang convertible. right now i have a stock 225/55/16 on them.. I am looking for a smaller rim for the winter and possibly a thinner size witdth that I could place. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Snow is coming soon.. thanks...

A taller, narrow profile tire is actually better for low speed driving in snowy conditions.

now, my question is.... WHY would you drive your stang in the nasty icky snow...

buy a cheapo neon for that

Also, if your in the MN area, I have a set of the 97 factory aluminum 15" wheels/centercaps and tires... selling for $100 for all 4

most people think a big wide tire is the best they are wrong. a wide tire is awesome on dry traction other then that its bad. I live in northern NH... I know. i run michelins on my mine i only put them in the back i have cobra Rs on mine just leave your stock rims on and put new tires on if you know how to drive youl be fine.

its a pretty common misconception, people jsut naturaly think wide tire= more grip but with snow its the opposite. the wider the more you float on top of the snow and less bite down on the surface underneath. like i said i have 17x9 rims and just run realy narrow michelin snow tires in the back and cross my fingers in the front. throw some weight in your trunk too it will help. also i beleive tirerack.com has some cheap setups for rims and tires for them

well im up here in AK so im familiar with the snow. if i was you i would see if i could find some studded tired... those work wonders and you dont haveta go thinner. i drove my stang last year on all weathers and it sucked. i have a 4x4 truck for the winter now so my stang will just be chillin (literally)

ya studed snows will work too, in fact any snow tire will work well but narrows tires in snow is much beter then wide. wides work of course but the narower the better haha in AK i hope youv got something other then the stang in the winter iv got a truck too but i cant stand haven the stang off the road so i try not to drive it that much and a 440 LC is a bad ass sled i had one set up for 440 sport class SNO-X right now though im building a water crosser. its a 583 swaped out to a 670 HO punched to a 740cc with 48 mm carbs and fast pipes. im hoping for 170 hp next summer in the 700 cc improved stock class... hope they wont test my displacement lol but back to the stangs

i wish! i was cutting grass today(job for tues) fuckin hot...like 80 at least

but it makes sense...wide tires on water are more dangerous then thin ones..so im assuming with snow its very similar
