Yea synthetic oil is good, both of those are good oil to run in these cars.

synthetic is the way to go but just so you know mobil 1 technically isn't full synthetic though they do say it is

ROYAL PURPLE FTMFW!!!! 5w30 btw... since u live in ohio u need the 5 so u won't have cold start proplems. and the 20 stays to thin and doesn't lubricate enough. also the thinner the oil, the more often u have to change it.

Straight from an ASE mechanic --> "The only reason car makers say to use 5w20 is because it allows the vehicle to get 1 to 2 more mpg during testing, but it is way to thin to use for everyday use."

Advance had that deal where u buy 5 quarts of mobil 1 and a filter for 26 bucks, so Mobil 1 5w30 FTW imo

hell... works fine for me

besides, my grandpa has worked on fords his whole life, and used nothing but pennzoil in his shop...

If it's good enough for his classic t-birds he used to restore... I think it's good enough for a V6 that rarely see's 3k rpms

but if I had the $$ I'd go for royal purple

5w20 has nothing to do with better mpg
it has to do with bearing clearance in the crank, and rods
using 20w50 on a brand new car that needs 5w20 will probably eat up a bearing

5w30 would be fine on a car with those miles even 10w30
the only case i would use such a thick oil or why anyone that races uses a thick oil is to help prevent blow by or so much of it. lots of nitrous guys use thicker oil. my buddy with a h22 accord (n2o) uses it but he also now has a rod knock that gets worse everyday

as for synthetic you dont need it at all. I've seen an oil pump that used Napa cheapo depo oil with 86k miles and the pump was FINE not a bit of sludge. cut open the oil filter, no slugde, nothing on the valve covers, head or in the oil pan. with regularly changing your oil you wont have issues
also on 86k miles factory AIR FILTER, COOLANT and spark plugs

i would have to assume since 5w20 is a lighter, less viscous liquid, and has less fluid density, than say 10w30, that the engine would have to use more effort to churn through it. and since viscosity is just a measure of a standard amount of oil to flow through a standard orifice in a standard amount of time, i would have to again assume a lighter oil would take less effort to be thrown about the inside of the engine. And in todays world, a one or two mpg increase from simply changing oil weight is better than 0 increase. But in all honesty, i could be talking out of my ass again and could be wrong.

castrol gtx 10w-30 here. I wish I could afford royal purple though. autozone was selling 5 qts of valvoline oil w/ an stp oil filter for 14 bucks last time i was there.
