Help, New To Engine Work

I am new to engine work, I have a 1994 3.8l Mustang. I am trying to remove the lower manifold but am having an issue with removing the water return pipe running from the heater hose on the firewall to the water pump. I have removed the retaining bolt at the water pump and the service manual suggest I should be able to pull the pipe out but I am concerned about messing something up. I have also remove the bracket at the firewall end.

Can anyone tell me if this pipe should pull out or is there something else I should do.

John

the tube is probably stuck. Try twisting it gently while pulling it upward out of the pump. These can be a real pita to get out sometimes and sometimes are rusted so bad, they fall apart when removed and will need to be replaced.

Twist 2 Go

Thanks for the advice, just a little concerned about forcing, but you are right it is pretty rusty.

Here goes.

How did this go for you? I took the top end of my motor off last night, and had a bit of difficulty like this in a couple places myself.

Worked like a charm, a little extra muscle and some wiggling and out it popped. There is an O-Ring on the internal end at the water pump and it must have been dry.

Thanks again.
