Brake line used for Nitrous Line
Probly posted in the wrong section, my bad.
But anywho, i needed a longer piece of nitrous line, and couldnt find the right one in summit or jegs (ends were too large), so with a little trial and error, i managed to find a 31 inch peice of british brake line that fits perfectly. I simply connected one end of the brake line to my too short line coming from the sylonoid (sp) and connected the other end to the fogger using the appropriate union. It looks professional, will def work, but my question is, am i gonna get shit from tech guys at my local track? Keep in mind this is brake line, so i assume that it will have no problem withstanding the 900 psi for my nitrous, or am i wrong? |

I dont see why you would, most people do stuff like that. I know for a fact that there are some people in my town that have done worse stuff than that but if it works and you are happy with it then who cares what everyone else thinks.

Nitrous oxide is.................an oxidizer, which means it will quickly rust iron & steel.
I think most N2O stuff is brass & stainless steel. ...............just sayin

lol, that will work. the only regulation at the track i go to is all nitrous lines have to be breaded steal. it will hold up. just check and be carefull. you dont want that shit blowing out.

the lines at my work are a stainless steal
the least of your worries is it blowing out. its going to be threaded instead of just press fitted on with a hose i would use teflon tape as leak insurance i use it for anything thats a fitting in to an oil or lubricant especially with turbo fittings

yea, this perticular line is coated with some new shit that prevents rusting and corosion. Also, i made sure i used teflon paste on all the fittings to insure an anti leak seal.

itll leak like mad man that rolled end will not seal that AN fitting, if its going to a NPT thread you'll be fine but if its off a AN piece your gonna have trouble

well, thats the exact reason i didnt use a peice of american line. That has the bubble flare. The british line has the inverted flare, and it fits that an line like a glove. it also seats smoothly on the jet for the fogger.

only one way to find out, when i get my car back, ill just arm the system and make a couple runs. Wat does nitrous smell like? or will it explode under hood before i have a chance to check for leaks.

you'lll hear the leak or itll freeze eveything around it under your hood. is it off a solenoid or off the bottle cause with some treflon paste it might hold the pressure if it is tight comming off the solenoid
