well my stang has well over 100k on it and still runs liek a charm. the 4.2 is just a 3.8 with some work done... you could easily take your engine and rebuild it and make it a 4.2. that is the step that i would be taking.. and getting a new tranny cuz my AODE sucks. if you want forced inductiopn you definitely want some forged internals and a full rotating assembly... which you can get the full forged set with the rotating assembly from super six. and yes the procharger will work on the 4.2.. like i said.. its the same block.. just beefed up

stock 99+ 3.8L block is aa stout sob. I would wait until your 3.8L is gone before upgrading just to upgrade.

My personal opinion would be to keep your car basically like it is. You already have the better flowing top end (split port) and your motor should be in fair shape with only that many miles on it.
I probably would NOT recommend an 11psi boost on a stock internal motor though.. you REALLY want to talk to the procharger reps when you order. You are going to need a fuel injector upgrade anyways when you order (unless you stay at 5psi or under...), so talk to them about your motor as well..... AND a tuner..... AFter you have a few more miles, or when you have the time and energy, or when you just feel that massive URGE to tinker... go with a full 4.3 stroker kit and get the heads ported/polished with big valves..... combine that with your procharger, and thats a pretty mean set up..... regardless, if your running an automatic, your going to want to invest in a shift kit... |

i would personally go with a twin turbo youll get a lot more out of it but a shift kit is only for a auto all it does is it makes the shifts more positive instead of slideing into gear its alot quicker but if you do get one be careful of witch on you get if you get a radical one then you couldnt keep your tires and you may get some tikets because you would be squeeking them all the time

Actually, the reason I recommended a shift kit was to prolong transmission life... the slower the shift, the more friction is being generated in the clutch packs because of slower engagement.
I agree on chooseing carefully though... my 1970 gto judge had a full race th400 in it.. even driving as nice as i could, the darn car would chirp the tires on a 1-2 shift That got me into more trouble that when I would run stoplight to stoplight with others....

a 4.2 is still the same basic engine..just stroked...mods like s/c's bolt ons, gears, turbo will fit the same as it would on a 3.8
