Auto to manual tranny swap

So aside from the Tranny itself what else would I need to do the swap? how hard is it? my auto is about done for(not to mention it has always sucked) and since the car has so many miles no one but ford will touch it...So I decided its 5sp time

That's a lie Faleen. 2g's max for a rebuilt installed. Or if you wanted to buy like a g-force 2600 or so and you're good to go.

If there's no real shop work you can do it for less than a grand if you get the parts and either repair em or buy a rebuilt tranny.

Tranny 400-790
Bellhousing 45-100
Then a pedal assembly, like 35 from a junkyard
Of course all the linkages and shit, maybe another 60 max
Should probably upgrade the shifter with like a tri-ax or something
Then if you want a new clutch and shit. Then pretty much good to go.

unless you have a donor car 2.5-4k is what your going to spend easy on parts labor would be about a grand, if he can pull 4 out of his car and puts even 2.5k he could get a 70-80k v6 no problem

but if you have all the parts and the know how your good to go, but your gonna need
Tranny
bell housing
tranny mounts
Master cylinder
Slave cylinder
Hydraulic lines master cyl
Hydraulic lines, slave cyl
Flywheel
Ecm
Clutch
Clutch Pedal Assembley
Shift Linkage
Center console/shiter
ECU

and there are probably a few things im missing

in all honesty something like a lentech street fighter tranny with a higher stall and quick shift system would be a about 1500 if you can install it yourself and a much more economical way to go

yea, its still not good on the tranny but it will make it stronger with a shift kit.

in most cases...auto to 5speed swap is not worth it

you'll need a new computer to as well as the tranny harness

clutch pedal assembly
clutch start switch
clutch cable
bellhousing
flywheel
clutch assembly
yoke for the output shaft to the driveshaft
shifter (should come with the tranny)

plus also look at the similar threads seen below
this is asked about as much as exhaust and intake used to be asked
and answered just as much

and the famous its not worth the money just buy a 5speed

It all depends on how much you can get the parts for. I lucked out and got everything cheap and did the install myself. I spent $450 on basically everything needed for the swap and then bought a new clutch kit. If you already have a tuner, you can just get a new tune that will turn off the auto functions in your computer and go without a manual ECU (it's what I did, this is cheaper unless you find a great deal on an ECU). Personally, having done the swap myself, I consider it more important to me than every other mod I've done combined.

I bought a ram clutch for ~$200 I believe. It comes with a pressure plate, clutch disk, T/O bearing, and clutch alignment tool.

Where can you find a T5 for $100? I'd be careful about where you get it, wouldn't want one that needs a bunch of work.
