i never done it before but i know you have to drop the gas tank. make sure are low on gas before you do it or else gas will spill out.

im pretty sure its really easy. for my year you have to drop the fuel tank to install it. im going to install an focus svt pump once my tank hits empty, then putting premium in it and then installing my s/c

Just be sure the pump is the right kind. The 1996 has a return fuel line while 1999 and later are return less.

I replaced a standard pump on a 99. It's not especially difficult. I would recommend reading the section in the shop manual or a Chilton's manual. There is a grommet in the right side of the fuel tank that the check valve part of the fill tube fits into. It is recommended to cut that grommet apart with a utility knife to aid in getting the fill tube out of the tank. Then a new grommet is needed on installation and they recommend using a surfactant to aid installation. I found a little bit of liquid dishwashing soap worked well.

Once the tank is down and the fuel pump module is out you need to take the module apart and replace the fuel pump part of it. There should be a new tank to pump module gasket which you should install.
