custom stud mounted rockers

here is some info i found out about a custom stud mounted rocker for the 3.8/4.2 heads...

supersixmotorsports.com sells a custom comp cams pro magnum stud mounted 1.7 rocker...

"Stud Mount Adjustable Roller Rocker Arm Kit:
This kit is the ultimate roller rocker arm kit for the 3.8/4.2 and includes custom Comp- Cams Pro-Magnum stainless steel 1.7 ratio rocker arms, studs, locknuts, guide plates, anti-friction inserts, and shims. Designed and tested on our 10-sec V6 racer, this setup provides the ideal geometry for late model 3.8/4.2 7mm valvetrain and returns the pushrod to the center of the pushrod guide hole where it belongs. Hardened
pushrods required (not included)."
my question's and ssx answers;

what is the mfg part# for the comp cams pro magnum stud mount rockers? is their head machining required to use these?

Actually, there is no part number for these and you won't find them listed in the CompCams catalog. They are machined to our requirements on a custom order basis. We have them available for order. Its the best rocker arm setup out there and fixes the geometry issues that exist with any of the other 3.8 rocker arms out there based on the 351C rocker body. The kit includes the rocker arms, studs, guide plates, and shims. We can start you off with an approximate pushrod length but you must use a length checker to measure the proper length, then order the pushrods.

Tom, once ordered how long should one plan on waiting, or do you have some in stock?

We can supply them in about a 2 week lead time. They are designed to be a direct replacement, hence the use of 8mm studs. We thought about using bigger studs, but that requires drilling and tapping rocker bolt holes which most people don't want to do, and 99% of the market uses normal springs, rpm limits, etc so the 8mm studs are not a problem for masses. We've run ours to 6700 rpm with 135 pounds on the seat with no problem.

What are the shims for? Well, the 3.8 rocker pedestals are recessed, the wrenching hex on the stud gets trapped between the rails on the pedestals, the shims are used to keep the wrenching hex from being trapped by the rails.
