Supercharged?

i was looking at the pix of the Thunderbird supercharger and i was wondering where the intercooler comes in.

it looks like the air comes in and runs to through the intercooler and then goes into the Supercharger which puts the air directly into the manifold. but intercooling it befor the supercharger doesnt make any sence because the air should still be the same temperature as outside. i would think that the supercharger would be adding the heat if anything so idk why they are intercooled before being heated.

plz tell me if i have the set up all wrong.

I think... Air goes in through the factory intake through the maf and throttle body and into the SC.. then out of the SC into the intercooler and then into the manifold.... at least from the pics I have seen, although they haven't been that good...

It might also flow from the factory air intake into the SC, out the SC into the intercooler and into the TB and then Intake manifold.

You got it right the first time.

1) through the filter, through the maf, through the throttle body
2) enters rear of m90, exits on top of m90
3) goes through top of t-bird intercooler, out bottom of t-bird intercooler
4) then, it follows a long tube into the lower intake manifold.

Note: there is a butterfly bypass valve right before entering the m90 to right before entering the lower intake manifold. There is a diaphragm that opens and closes this valve to bypass the supercharger when it is under vacuum. That way, it doesn't "drag" or become restricted under vacuum.

nailed it...if it came through the intercooler it would have to go through the piping...some how and it'd give almost barely if not very little air which is what the s/c needs

+1
On a side note.. an intercooler is not needed for a SC.. but is extremely helpful with the cooler temperatures going into your engine

hey thankx guys
well it looks like my dad is going for the t-bird set up!!
hopefully it wont be too difficult and i found an ebay account with the supercharger and all the brackets and tubing for under 300
it should bring the hp to 210 from 140 and torque to 300 from 200
thats not bad for $300

would a tuner be nessesary to tune some things to adjust for the supercharger??
