other than the coil being external on the intake, isn't the ICM integrated into the computer? I am not positive though....

Yes all ignition functions are controlled by the ecm. There are cam and crank position sensors, but no module.

module
oh.. then what the hell did i buy from auto zone.,..
the sold me a ignition control module for a 2002 3.8l for 160.00 it looks like a black plastic rectangle and one side with a female plug insert about 2 inches and on the other side is another rectangle which is a metal. i was stumped becaue i dont know where it went... here is my problem.. the car is miss firing on three cylinders. 1, 2, and 6. scanner codes po301,po302,po306. i have already replaced the plugs and wires and that didnt work.. so i not ever working on a mustang before figured it would be a control module.. so i picked one up funny that they dont have one bu they sold me one... so what do you guys think it is... fuel filter?, dont know what its called but the thing where all the spark plug wires plug into? please help, my friend really needs her car for school. already been down two days and i dont want to take it to a shop that will rip her off. |

How many wires? the Computer is located behind the passenger side kick panel in my '97, and i think it shoudl be in the same place for that car.... I don't think you can get a computer that cheap though, and they would need your old computers code before they could sell you a replacement.
If I had a picture of what you got, I could probably identify it.... if your missing on 1,2 and 6, you MIGHT need a new coil. |

Napa isn't listing anything like that, and neither is a couple other places. There ARE modules for other vehicles, but not a mustang....
